Ultimate Exotics Vivarium Filter Clay is designed for use as a base layer beneath the main substrate in naturalistic terrariums and vivariums. The clay layer creates space for an underground water reservoir, helping separate excess water from the surface substrate.
It can be placed beneath coconut fibre or another compatible terrarium substrate to support humid tropical setups and live plants. Ultimate Exotics also recommends the filter clay for filtration around suitable waterfall systems.

Installation
Rinse the clay before use to remove loose dust. Spread it evenly across the bottom of the enclosure, then install a suitable drainage mesh or substrate barrier over the clay. Add the main terrarium substrate above the barrier.
Add water carefully where an underground reservoir is required. Monitor the water level and enclosure humidity to prevent the upper substrate from becoming waterlogged. The required layer depth will depend on the enclosure’s footprint and drainage design.
