Why UVB Lighting Matters:

Vitamin D3 Synthesis: UVB rays enable reptiles to synthesize vitamin D3, essential for calcium absorption and bone health. Without adequate UVB exposure, reptiles are at risk of metabolic bone disease.

Behavioural Regulation: UVB lighting influences reptiles' circadian rhythms, affecting their sleep-wake cycles, feeding, and mating behaviours.

Immune System Support: Adequate UVB exposure strengthens the immune system, helping reptiles fend off infections and diseases.

Choosing the Right UVB Lighting:

Different reptiles have varying UVB requirements. For instance:

Desert Species (e.g., Bearded Dragons): Require higher UVB output; T5 HO 10.0 bulbs are recommended.

Tropical Species (e.g., Chameleons): Benefit from moderate UVB levels; T5 HO 5.0 bulbs are suitable.

Nocturnal Species (e.g., Leopard Geckos): While less dependent on UVB, low-level exposure can still be beneficial.

Installation Tips:

Distance Matters: Position UVB bulbs at appropriate distances (usually 12–18 inches) to ensure effective exposure.

Avoid Obstructions: Ensure there's no glass or plastic between the bulb and the reptile, as these materials can block UVB rays.
